Both Sickles and Knollwood Schools have I&RS committees, which
are comprised of teachers, administrators and student support staff
personnel such as guidance counselors and Child Study Team members. The
function of the I&RS committee is to help teachers develop
strategies and interventions when a child is experiencing academic,
social, emotional and/or health related difficulties in school. Teachers
consult with the principal and parents prior to requesting an I&RS
meeting. Once a meeting occurs, parents and teachers are provided with a
list of interventions to be implemented. Follow-up meetings may also be
scheduled to determine the effectiveness of the interventions. I&RS
committees provide a vital role in our schools and help to create a
more successful school experience for students.
